A community builder and a son of Ontario

Vikram Handa is a housing advocate, social impact leader, and leadership candidate for the Ontario Liberal Party.

His work as a housing leader and social impact executive has given him a first-hand look at how the housing crisis is reshaping daily life for workers, seniors, young people, and families across the province.

That experience shaped his politics. Vikram believes housing is a right, public services are the foundation of dignity, and the government should be judged by whether it helps ordinary people afford a decent life. 

He is building a big tent coalition united by a simple belief: Ontario works best when everyone has the opportunity to live a life of dignity. 

He is running to lower costs, freeze rents, build public and non-profit housing, defend universal public health care, invest in schools, strengthen worker protections, expand access to post-secondary education, and restore trust in public institutions. 

As the son of a father who immigrated from India and a mother with roots in rural Ontario, Vikram is as a candidate focused on building a broad coalition across class, geography, and generation around fairness, security, and dignity.

A graduate of the University of Toronto, Sorbonne University, McMaster University and the University of British Colombia Faculty of Law, Vikram brings a background in constitutional law, community work and human rights to public life. He is a published writer and frequent commentator, with work that has appeared in the Globe and Mail, the Hill Times, iPolitics and Policorner.
